This Tata Twist Tank sewing pattern features a unique twist detail at the center front that flatters the bust, as well as a scoop back that can be worn in the front or back. The top is fully self-lined, eliminating the need for hemming, and the design is perfect for summer days or layering under jackets and cardigans.

It is aimed at adventurous beginners to intermediate sewists. A great introduction to sewing knits that comes together with a unique construction method.

The tank can be sewn using either a sewing machine or overlocker/serger.

Included in the pattern:

  • A4/US letter printing format (20 pages)
  • A0/Copy Shop printing format (1 page)
  • Projector file

All sizes are 'layered' throughout the documents for ease of use with Adobe Acrobat (free). Note that the files should be accessed using a computer, not a mobile phone.

Suitable for medium-weight knit fabrics with 60% stretch along the cross grain and good recovery (inclusive of elastane/lycra/spandex).

Yardage (based on 130cm width of fabric (51in):

  • sizes A-M: 1.3M (1.4Y)
  • sizes N-Q: 2M (2.2Y) if using the cross grain, or if there is 60% stretch along the straight grain 1.7M (1.8Y)

Endless hacking potential and tips throughout to customise the fit, the tata twist tank is sure to be your new favourite tank top! Scroll #tatatwisttank to be inspired!

Love it!

Made the first one using the projector file. But I traced the pattern rather than cutting the fabric straight as its bamboo jersey which was a bitty slippy. The pattern is true to size. I sized down as suggested because it was quite stretchy fabric. I’m making a few more as I’m off to Thailand in December. Might add some bra pads on the next one too.
