Design options
Frolic includes two main construction options, giving you two very different finished dresses from the same pattern.
View A features a faux-shirred centre-back panel and gathered rectangle skirt.
View B uses a zip closure and full-circle skirt for a more structured, classic silhouette.
The bodice can also be self-lined for a clean internal finish.

Frolic is a great next-step project if you’re ready to build confidence with fitted bodices, adjustable straps, gathering and either shirring-style construction or zip insertion.
Suggested fabrics
Choose a medium-weight woven fabric.
Frolic can look completely different depending on your fabric choice, so this is a great pattern for experimenting with:
- Cotton
- Linen blends
- Structured woven fabrics
- Softer woven fabrics for a more romantic finish
If your fabric has stretch, you may prefer to size down depending on your desired fit.
If using a lighter-weight fabric, you may also choose to interface the bodice lining for extra structure.
Fabric note
For some sizes, the View A skirt is placed on the cross grain in the most fabric-efficient cutting layout.
If you prefer to keep the skirt on the straight grain, some sizes will require additional skirt-panel seams.
Yardage calculations are based on a self-lined bodice.
